Help given when we have time and resources:

We will do our best to try and help students with certain other problems other than the above as time permits.

  • Help with virus/spyware removal: It needs to be understood that this often entails leaving your laptop at the Help Desk for a matter of days. As a condition of Virus/Spyware removal any File Sharing Software (Kazaa, WinMX, Limewire, Morpheus, etc.) must be uninstalled from the computer with the agreement that it will not be reinstalled. We can make no guarantee on success for removal of viruses or spyware. Nor are we to be held liable for data loss including OS or software corruption. You are responsible for backing up your own data!

  • Help, where possible, with hardware issues (e.g. reloading wireless drivers)

(Work that does not involve opening or in any way taking apart laptop computers. )

  • Help with data backup from a laptop computer that is malfunctioning.

What we cannot do:

  • Troubleshoot any issues for home computers
  • Troubleshoot any issues for home network connections
  • Troubleshoot any issues for computers that do not appear to actually belong to students
  • Laptop hardware repair
  • Phone support for alumni
  • Phone support for hardware issues
  • Reset email passwords must be requested in person to the Help Desk. Students must have a photo ID (preferable your student ID) on hand.
  • Provide troubleshooting or support for Microsoft Operating Systems earlier than Windows 2000 (e.g. Windows Me, Windows 98se, etc.)
  • Reload software or operating systems
